Despite 10-12% of the world’s population being left-handed, only 5-6% of golfers play left-handed. One of the reasons for this is limited left-handed golf equipment. However, don’t fear, there are still some great golf club sets you can buy as a left-hander. Here we dive through the best left-handed beginner golf club sets on the market.

TOP PICK

BEST FOR SLOW SWING SPEED

BEST VALUE

BEST CUSTOM FIT

BEST FOR CASUAL GOLFERS

Callaway Strata complete set

BEST FOR SLICERS

Cobra Fly XL Full Set in Bag

Callaway XR Complete LH Set

Callaway XR Left Handed Complete Set

Pros

Everything you need to start playing

Will still suit you as you progress

Forgiving and powerful driver

Good forgiveness in irons

Great brand

Cons

Expensive

The XR complete set is Callaway’s latest set aimed at beginner golfers, and great news, as they offer a left-handed set.

This set includes a 460cc driver which offers great forgiveness and distance. A similar setup in the fairway woods and hybrids to the Callaway Edge set, both with low-profile heads making them easy to hit off the fairway for longer par 4 and 5s.

The Callaway XR set combined game-improvement irons with some really nice chrome wedges and an Odyssey DFX Putter.

Golf Insider verdict

There are cheaper left handed golf clubs on the market. However, we find cheaper tend to lack in performance when t comes to the driver and woods (the expensive ones to make). Whereas the Callaway XR offer you a full set of preiumum clubs that would have cost over $2,000 a couple of years ago.

If you have the budget these are a great pick.

Cobra Fly XL LH Golf Set

Cobra Fly XL Left Handed Set

Pros

Excellent quality across all clubs

Forgiving and long-hitting driver

Versatile fairway wood and hybrids

Super forgiving irons with high launch

Promotes a soft draw for most golfers

Cons

Overkill for very occasional players

Limited golf bag options

A close second place for the best golf clubs for left handers are the Cobra Fly XL. I actually purchased two sets of these when I was Head of Golf at Exeter University for our beginner coaching. They are super impressive and very easy to use.

The 10.5º driver features a large clubface and low centre of gravity, delivering impressive forgiveness and distance.

The 15º fairway wood’s wide, flat profile makes it easy to hit from both tee and turf. The set’s standout features are the offset 4 and 5-hybrids, which inspire confidence at address and produce high, long shots.

The irons (6-SW) have deep cavities and perimeter weighting for forgiveness and a high launch. Cobra has engineered these clubs for optimal launch, gapping, and versatility around the greens. However, these irons are chunky, so chipping from tight lies is a slight trade-off for their epic forgiveness.

A classic toe-weighted putter with clear alignment features completes the set. For faster swingers (100mph+ driver speed), the Cobra Fly XL offers excellent performance with slightly stiffer graphite shafts. It’s also a great choice for slicers, thanks to their draw bias.

Golf Insider verdict

For the price, I don’t think a beginner golfer could do better. The Cobra Fly XL complete set gives you all the clubs you need, and each is well-crafted to help you learn the game. These sets tend to be a little cheaper than the Callaway XR, but do check how many golf clubs you get in each, as that is often the reason for the price difference.

Callaway Strata

Callaway Strata Left Handed Set

Pros

Great value complete golf sets

Great options (12, 14 & 16-piece sets)

Good forgiveness in hybrids and irons

Complete set with carry bag included

Cons

Driver & woods shorter than some competitors

Driver & irons are not as forgiveness as competitors

Callaway Strata golf sets are the ‘OG’s’ of beginner golf clubs, they offer a ‘full set’ of branded clubs for a great price, and they offer left-handed options.

You’ll find 12-piece, 14-piece and 16-piece options which we fully explain in our full Callaway Strata review, but the quick points are that:

  1. Consider price when weighing up the different sized sets (all three offer enough clubs to get going).
  2. Pick a set with graphite shafts in the woods. This will make them much more powerful and easier to control.

These are still good, but even with the graphite shafted woods, they just don’t compete with the more modern Callway XR and Cobra Fly XL woods in the sets we cover above.

Golf Insider Verdict

The Callaway Strata clubs are a great pick for very occasional golfers who just want some gear and they are still the best golf club at this price point. But if you are planning to get into the game and want to improve, I would push you towards the Callway XR and Cobra Fly XL if you can find some extra money.

Wilson Profile SGI

Wilson SGI Left Handed Set

Pros

Comprehensive set at an affordable price

Good performance given the price.

Good forgiveness in irons

Available in standard and tall sizes

Cons

Driver & woods shorter than some competitors

Driver & woods less forgiving than premium sets

Limited customisation options compared to some sets

The Wilson Profile SGI is Wilson’s complete club set for beginners, offering a well-rounded package at an attractive price point for left handed golfers. This set includes a 10.5º driver, 5-wood, 5-hybrid, 6-9 irons, pitching wedge, sand wedge, putter, and golf bag.

The 460cc driver (the maximum size allowed) provides excellent forgiveness for those struggling with consistent contact. The driver, 5-wood, and 5-hybrid feature graphite shafts, promoting higher clubhead speeds, while the irons and wedges use steel shafts for enhanced control on shorter shots.

The irons have a large cavity back design, offering great forgiveness and helping to launch shots higher. This set is designed to serve beginners well for many years, although as you approach a mid-20 handicap, you may want to consider upgrading the putter and driver.

A key advantage of this set is its availability in both standard (for heights 5’5″ – 6’1″) and tall (6’1″ – 6’5″) options, providing a degree of customisation often lacking in beginner sets. This feature, combined with its comprehensive club selection and affordable price, makes the Wilson Profile SGI an excellent starting point for new golfers.

Golf Insider Verdict

These clubs are great for left handed beginners needing a custom-fit solution on a budget. They offer really solid performance across the set but are not as forgiving as the Cobra Fly XL or Callaway XR sets. Worth considering, and good value for the price, but just let the Strata set, I’d urge you to spend a little more if you can and want to invest time into improving.

Tour Edge TE-400

Tour Edge TE-400 Left Handed Set

The Tour Edge TE-400 golf clubs have only recently come on the market, and great news, they now offer a left-handed set.

As a coach, I’ve been selling Tour Edge golf clubs for nearly 20 years, and have no problem recommending these as a pick (before we get our hands on them for a full test). They offer life-time warrently and a 30-day play guarantee, meaning you can return these within 30 days if you’re not completely happy.

The clubs themselves innovate on the former Tour Edge 470 package set, with the following setup:

  • 10.5º driver,
  • 15° 3 Wood
  • 19° 5 Wood
  • 22° 4 Hybrid
  • 25° 5 Hybrid
  • 6-PW & SW Iron Set (Graphite)
  • Mallet Putter
  • TE-400 Cart Bag

One key here is that all the irons are graphite shafts too. This is great news if you have a slower swing speed and/or want to maximise distance. Graphite is expensive, meaning these are seriously good value if you fall into this category.

We’ll reserve a full verdict until we can test them, but we wanted to share these on the list.
