Quick summary
The Mizuno Pro 241 irons are crafted for golfers who demand precision and control from their irons. Known for their sleek design and remarkable feel, these irons promise to deliver a superior golfing experience. In this review, we dive deep into the performance, aesthetics, value and more of the Mizuno Pro 241 irons.
Who is this for?
The 241 irons are the least forgiving of the Mizuno lineup, however they were not as unforgiving as I first thought they might be. Given this, I think that these irons can be used by mid-low handicap golfers. If you struggle hitting long irons consistently you could use a combination set, with the 243s or 245s in the long irons.
Who should look elsewhere?
If you’re new to golf or don’t play on a weekly basis, these clubs might not be the best fit. There are many other options available that can provide more consistent results, especially on off-centred strikes.
Pros
Excellent feel and Feedback
Aesthetically beautiful
Ability to shot shape, increased control of ball flight
Consistent, even on off-centre strikes
Cons
Not a lot of forgiveness, but not bad for a blade
Blade profile, thin top line can put fear into some golfers
Traditional lofts – distance is not quite the same as irons aimed at game-improvement
Looks
The Mizuno Pro 241 irons have a classic, sleek design that instantly appeals to the purist golfer. Looking down at address, the first thing you’ll notice is the compact head size, which gives it a refined and minimalist appearance.
The thin top line and minimal offset provide a clean, traditional look that many players love. The club’s finish is impeccable, with a smooth, polished surface that reflects Mizuno’s attention to detail.
These irons look stunning in the bag and even better in hand, giving you that extra bit of confidence when you’re about to take a shot.
Forgiveness
The Mizuno Pro 241 irons are surprisingly forgiving for such a compact head design. During our testing, we found that even on off-center strikes, the performance drop-off wasn’t as severe as expected. For testing we used a 7-iron and the data showed a minimal ball speed drop from 117 mph on the best strikes to 112 mph on the worst, resulting in only a 5 mph difference.

This translates to about 12-15 yards of carry distance variance, which is impressive for a player’s iron. The well-distributed weight within the bladed design of the head helps maintain stability, making the Pro 241 a solid choice for consistent ball strikers looking for a bit of leniency on off-center strikes.
Distance
When it comes to distance, the Mizuno Pro 241 irons deliver consistent performance but aren’t designed to be the longest in the lineup. In our testing, using a 7-iron, the average carry distance was 161 yards. This iron is more about precision and control rather than maximising yardage.
The 34° loft contributes to a slightly higher ball flight, which helps with stopping power on the greens. If you’re a player who values accuracy and consistent yardages over sheer distance, the Pro 241 irons will suit you perfectly.

Feel
These irons feel sensational. Granted, you have to hit them out of the centre or somewhere close to get the best sensation, but even the off-centred strikes still felt good and it helps that the outcome wasn’t affected too much either. This has something to do with the Chromoly material that Mizuno uses throughout all of its irons in the latest lineup.
Control
The Mizuno Pro 241 irons are all about control and precision. With the highest spin rate among the three models in the latest lineup of Mizuno irons, they ensure that you can stop the ball quickly on the greens. Our testing showed a consistent spin rate that provided a reliable landing angle and stopping power.
This high spin rate is critical for shaping shots and maintaining accuracy, especially for lower handicap players. The 34° loft helps achieve a higher peak height, which contributes to softer landings. If you prioritize shot-making and the ability to control your ball flight, the Pro 241 irons are an excellent choice.

Value
The Mizuno Pro 241 irons offer fantastic value for golfers seeking precision and control. Priced competitively, at £1,200 RRP, 5-iron to PW, these irons offer exceptional performance, rivalling other high-end players’ irons like the Titleist T100 or Ping Blueprint.
While they may not provide the same distance as some game improvement irons, the Pro 241 excels in consistency and shot-making capabilities. If you’re a skilled golfer who prioritizes feel and control, the Pro 241 offers excellent value for your investment.
Golf Insider Verdict
The Mizuno Pro 241 irons deliver exceptional control and precision, making them an excellent choice for skilled golfers who value shot-making and consistency. With their high spin rate and classic design, these irons are perfect for players who prioritize accuracy over distance.
If you are looking for an iron that offers unparalleled control and feel, the Pro 241 is a must-try. However, if you need more forgiveness and distance, you might want to explore other options like the Pro 245 or game improvement irons.
Important considerations before buying
Shaft Fitting
Shaft fitting is crucial for getting the most out of the Mizuno Pro 241 irons. These clubs are designed for precision and control, so pairing them with the right shaft can enhance their performance significantly. If you have a smoother swing with moderate swing speeds, you might benefit from a lighter shaft like the Nippon NS Pro 950GH, which can help increase your launch angle and optimize spin rates.
For golfers with faster swing speeds or a more aggressive transition, a stiffer shaft such as the KBS C-Taper can help control the ball flight and keep your shots penetrating through the wind. Utilising Mizuno’s DNA fitting tool can provide personalized recommendations, ensuring you get the best performance tailored to your swing. In my opinion, getting custom-fitted in person is key to ensuring your money is spent well and the clubs you buy are perfectly tailored to you.
