The Titleist Players Flex was one of my two go-to gloves when competing as a professional — the other being the FootJoy StaSof. Pulling it back on for this test brought all of that flooding back. Fit and Feel
Visually it’s still stunning. A proper retro look — black and white detailing, the classic Titleist logo sitting in the centre of the back like a golf ball, black tipping around the wrist. The attention to detail is exceptional — the leather on the finger panels has black on one side and white on the other, which sounds like a minor thing but gives the glove a precision and craftsmanship you simply don’t see on everything else in this test. It looks like a serious glove made for serious golfers.
The fit is beautifully snug — and I mean that as the highest compliment. Small Lycra sections around the knuckles and at the base of the fingers allow natural flex without losing that secure, locked-in feel. The palm leather is exquisite — one of the finest-feeling leathers in this entire test.
Grip
Outstanding — no caveats. Once your hands are around the grip, the awareness of wearing a glove essentially vanishes. That’s the gold standard for a golf glove, and the Players Flex achieves it as well as anything in this test.
Durability and Value
It’s very thin, which is exactly what you want at this level — but thinness has a trade-off. Expect it to wear faster than a more robust construction under heavy practice, particularly in sweaty conditions. Buy a cheaper all-weather for the range and save the Players Flex for rounds — it’ll last significantly longer and you’ll appreciate it far more when it counts.
Value is fair rather than exceptional — you’re paying for tour-level construction, and the price reflects that honestly.
Golf Insider Verdict
Best for: golfers who prioritise feel above everything else and want the glove a tour professional would actually choose. Also worth it if you love the Titleist aesthetic — few gloves in this test look this good. The snug, slim fit is a feature not a flaw — if it disappears on your hand, you’ve found your glove.
Avoid if you have broader hands or sweat heavily — the FootJoy StaSof offers a similar tour-level feel with a slightly broader finger fit, or the Srixon Cabretta Premium if you want better durability at a similar price.
