Wyndham Residences Kusadasi Golf & Spa Review

If you are looking for a fun family holiday with a relaxed atmosphere and a fun golf course, Wyndham Residences Kusadasi Golf & Spa is well worth checking out. Situated on the West Coast of Turkey, overlooking the Aegean Sea, guarantees this resort sunny, warm weather throughout the summer months.

Golf course

Many travelling golfers opt for the south coast of Turkey, due to the high density of golf courses. Kusadasi is a little more out the way, but after a few days’ play, we can confirm it is a hidden gem up on the west coast.

Positioned up in the hills, the course has some stunning views inland and out over the bay, with the Greek Island of Samos popping in and out of view as you wander around the front 9. This is certainly one of the coolest locations we’ve been to play golf.

Due to the hilly terrain and dry climate, the course is well kept but is a little rustic and has some bare patches when you move off the fairways and greens. However, the sheer fun of playing this course makes up for its less-than-immaculate condition.

The front 9 offers many elevated tees, hitting into sloping fairways and greens. The short 5th hole is a particularly cool hole, offering views back to the clubhouse and across the bay to the Greek Islands in the distance.

The back 9 is where this really gets lively. The straightforward 10th is then followed by the 350-yard (drivable) 11th which drops 60-yards from tee to green. The elevation drops and fun features continue as you hit into the postage stamp green on the par 3 12th and then battle uphill on the long par 4 14th.

Around the golf course, you have a beautiful clubhouse offering breakfast, lunch and dinner with views over the bay. There is also a putting green, chipping green and a golf range with amazing views out over the Aegean Sea.

Accommodation

Wyndham Residences Kusadasi Golf & Spa overlooks the golf course and offers a free shuttle bus between the main resort and golf clubhouse (2 mins drive or a 10 min walk). The resort offers various apartments from classic one-bedroom to penthouse duplex suites with a hot tub on the top floor balcony.

The accommodation is super spacious and is just what you need for a fun week of activities with friends or family.

Food & drink

One of the great perks is the all-inclusive food and drink that comes as a guest at the resort. The main buffet restaurant offers an incredible range of foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the fresh fruits and salads being a highlight.

There is also the Oaks Restaurant and Golf Clubhouse for those wanting a more bespoke dining experience. In these two restaurants, the food is of a higher standard than in the main buffet restaurant, with some really nice dishes. The in-resort food is good, we’d suggest 4-star, rather than 5-star during our visit.

Activities

What the resort may lack in al-a-carte food it more than makes up with activities. Just the 11 swimming pools in-resort, water slides, tennis courts, table tennis, mini-golf, gym, multiple play areas and the on-site spa complete with Jacuzzi, Sauna and a Turkish massage that is well worth booking in for.

You’ll have a tough time fitting in half of the in-resort activities during a week – great news for active families and those looking for a few days of golf and lots of fun between rounds.

Customer service

The magic of Wyndham Residences Kusadasi Golf & Spa lives in the staff who work there – there is no doubt you’ll receive 5-star service. We talked to many staff during the week and learned many personal stories. They work hard and take such pride in their jobs, going above and beyond to make your stay memorable.

Location

The beautiful hillside location does mean you are not within walking distance to the local town (Kusadasi), and unlike the south of Turkey, you aren’t blessed with multiple golf courses close by. Izmir (90 minutes drive north) and Bodrum (90 mins drive south) are the two closest locations with golf courses worth checking out.

However, the beauty of the Wyndham Residence is that you have accommodation, golf and activities in the resort all week, with no need to drive or organise any external travel. The other advantage of the location is the additional adventures you must try to squeeze into your week’s stay.

Ephesus day trip

Ephesus is thought to have been founded in ~600 BC. Occupied over the centuries by the Ottoman, Greek and Roman empires. It is a vast site that allows you to peer back in time. Take plenty of water and make sure you hire a tour guide – a great guide will turn this place into a 2-hour epic movie.

The ancient city of Ephesus, with the small, nearby town of Sirince (translates to ‘Pretty’) top right.

Boat trip to Buyuk Menderes National Park

Buyuk Menderes is a national park situated 10km south of Kusadasi. It is a rustic adventure as you make your way via minibus down to the bustling port of Kusadasi, but once the boat leaves the port and docks in the first national park bay, for a swim, you’ll be delighted you made the trip – it is stunning.

There are multiple options for arranging boat trips at Wyndham Residences, from group trips to more private, bespoke tours.
